On our travels in Arizona we went to Phoenix Zoo, it was a very nice park but we expected more animals in a zoo. None the less we loved walking arround and taking pictures.
THIS WAS AN OTTER
MY FAVORITE WILD ANIMAL
A PELICAN WITH A SPECIAL BEAK, AT FIRST I THOUGHT HE HAD A SANDWICH IN HIS BEAK
I hope you are all enjoying Spring or Autumn for the ones down under ! Thanks for visiting !
Near Flagstaff we found a nature reserve and as we are always on the lookout for birds and other wildlife we stopped and walked through the park. There was still snow on the ground here and there so we had to be carefull as we are not 18 anymore…
I LOVE DEATH TREE’S, THEY LOOK LIKE SCULPTURES
IT WAS SUNNY AND ABOUT 20C° BUT STILL THERE WAS SNOW HERE AND THERE
LOTS OF LICHEN ON THE ROCKS
DEAD TREE’S EVERYWHERE AND LOTS OF DEAD WOOD
I TRIED TO PHOTOGRAPH A LITTLE BLUE BIRD HERE BUT IT WAS SOOOOO FAST !!!!
THIS ONE WAS SO NICE TO SIT STILL FOR A WHILE SO I COULD TAKE A PICTURE
THESE ANIMALS WERE THERE BUT WE DIDN’T SEE ANY OF THEM ONLY A FEW BIRDS BUT FOR THE ANIMALS TO SHOW IT IS BEST TO GO THERE EARLY IN THE MORNING OR LATE IN THE AFTERNOON BUT AS WE WERE PASSING HERE ON OUR WAY BACK FROM THE GRAND CANYON IT WAS TOO EARLY IN THE AFTERNOON BUT NEVER THE LESS IT WAS A PLEASANT WALK !
Thanks for stopping buy, I hope you all have a great day.
When we stayed in Flagstaff we made a trip to the Grand Canyon. The weather was a bit cold and windy but the sun was out so it wasn’t too bad. We visited the South rim as the North rim was still closed in March. It was awesome !
Arizona has so many mountains, all very different but all very stunning too !!!!
When we saw the Grand Canyon we thought a lot about the first immigrants who travelled on foot, woman and children with all their belongings, we thought they would have been in shock at the sight of this huge “gap” and wondered how on earth they were going to get to the other side of it !
The following pictures were taken of the Grand Canyon.
ON OUR WAY BACK TO OUR HOTEL WE SAW THESE GUYS.
Have a great weekend all !
This was the longest trip we had in Arizona and what a difference ! At first we still had hot sunny weather and lots of cacti along the way but then the scenery changed and it got colder and grey and when we were almost in Flagstaff we saw…snow ! It wasn’t that cold ! about 20 C° and snow ? We had a wonderfull hotel there and we had a great time, very relaxing.
WE STOPPED TO SEE THE LAKE NEAR THE HOOVER DAM
AND TO OUR SURPRISE WE SAW THE CUTEST LITTLE ANIMALS ; CHIPMUNCKS, THEY WERE EVERYWHERE
Soon it was time for lunch and we stopped somewhere on route 66 , there was a place called The Roadkill Cafe, their motto : you kill it we grill it . We had a lovely meal and a coke served in a big goblet, we thought this was really funny. Outside this cafe there were some old remnants of a town build by the first cowboys we think.
AND THE MOST FUNNY THING ; A TOILET FOR TWO, very cosy….
AND THIS OLD CAR HELD A LOVELY SURPRISE, WHEN I LOOKED INSIDE I FOUND…
A CACTUS !
And then we travelled further to Flagstaff where we arrived late afternoon.
Have a great week all ! and thanks for stopping by.
