PHOENIX ZOO

On our travels in Arizona we went to Phoenix Zoo, it was a very nice park but we expected more animals in a zoo. None the less we loved walking arround and taking pictures.

SONORAN DESSERT ARIZONA

We visited the Sonoran dessert last March whilst on holiday in Arizona, it’s a great place and not too hot yet in Spring. In Summer the heat must be unbearable !!! I loved every second of it !

ARIZONA SONORA DESSERT MUSEUM part 1

On our travels in Arizona last March we ended up one day in the Sonora Dessert Museum. We loved it ! So much to see, a great garden and lots of wildlife and on top some really really old gemstones and fossils. But it was hot ! even in March so I wonder what it’s like in Summer !!!!

PETRIFIED FOREST ARIZONA

As we were near the petrified forest I wanted to go see it, it was not what I expected but it was worth the trip. The petrified trees were formed 225 milion years ago when the area was flooded. The park is covered in pieces of trees and it looks like someone cut the trees into  nice big logs.

The park and the rocks were a perfect decor.

IMG_7098

YOU CAN’T TAKE A SMALL PIECE OF THE PETRIFIED TREE AS THEY ARE PROTECTED BUT YOU CAN BUY SOME IF YOU LIKE. THEY EVEN MAKE JEWLERY AND FURNITURE OF IT. IT IS BIG BUSINESS OFCOURSE BUT TOURISM IS GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY AND MANY PEOPLE MAKE A LIVING FROM IT.

IMG_7102

THEY EVEN HAD CACTI IN THE PARK, YOU CAN SEE HOW DRY EVERYTHING IS

WALNUT CANYON ARIZONA

On our way to Phoenix we visited Walnut Canyon, a beautiful piece of nature. You could see where people lived in the old days, they just had a hole in a mountain, that must have been really uncomfortable !

DSC01427

DSC01450

NATURE WAS VERY ROUGH AND PURE THERE, UNFORTUNATELY WE COULD NOT DO THE HIKING BIT COS OF MY TERRIBLE FEET SO WE WALKED ARROUND THERE AND DISCOVERED  SOME BEAUTIFUL GEMS.
