June is usually the best month for the garden here in Belgium, everything is lush and fresh and blooming but not this year, we have had torrential rain and flooding in many places and gardeners and farmers are getting desperate, we urgently need sun and warmth here !!! Personally I may not complain, we had no flooding , everything is growing like mad but the blooms have rotted away, pitty but it could have been worse. Here are a few pictures I took when we had a bit of sun.
ROSA GUIRLANDE D’AMOUR, A LOVELY SMELLING RAMBLER, TODAY IT LOOKS HORRIBLE, THE BLOOMS ARE ALL BROWN
ROSA FRANCIS E. LESTER, ALSO WITH A GORGEOUS SMELL, A RAMBLER I KEEP SHORT AS IT GROWS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SKIMMIA BUSH
A LOVELY BLUE CLEMATIS
THIS IS A YOUNG FATSIA, THE LEAFS ARE GREEN BUT THE SUN WAS SHINING ON THE PLANT SO SOME OF THE LEAFS LOOK YELLOW
THE HOSTA’S ARE DOING GREAT, THEY LOVE THE WET COOL WEATHER
MY FIGS ARE GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER
THE BEGINNING OF A SEMPERVIVUM BLOOM
THE FERNS ARE THRIVING AS WELL
ANOTHER OF MY HARDY GERANIUMS, IT SELFSEEDS EVERYWHERE BUT IT IS A NICE AND EASY PLANT AND EASILY REMOVED WHERE IT IS NOT WANTED
Thanks for visiting? I hope all is well in your gardens !
MY FIGS AT THE BEGINNING OF MAY
AT THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST I STARTED TO PROTECT THEM FROM THE BIRDS WITH ALU FOIL AND THAT HELPS
THIS IS THE END PRODUCT, THIS IS HOW THEY LOOK WHEN THEY ARE RIPE
THIS FIG IS CALLED WHITE OF MARSEILLE, IT’S A FRENCH FIG AND IT IS WINTERHARDY, IT GROWS RAPIDLY AND I HAVE TO PRUNE IT OFTEN EACH YEAR BUT IT GIVES ME A LOT OF FIGS, MOST OF THEM ARE USED TO MAKE JAM BUT I ALWAYS COMBINE IT WITH ONE OR TWO OTHER FRUITS TO GET A PRODUCT YOU CAN’T BUY IN THE SHOP. MAKING YOUR OWN JAM IS SOOOOOO VERY EASY, EVERYONE CAN DO THIS !!!
THANKS FOR VISITING ! HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND HAVE FUN IN YOUR GARDEN !
It’s high Summer at the moment so there are many plants in bloom but the first Autumnspiders are sitting in their nets, they are still small at the moment but they’ll be growing ….
MY ALBIZZIA IS STILL BLOOMING ITS HEAD OFF
I’M GETTING LOTS OF FRUIT ON MY PASSIONFLOWER PLANTS
ANOTHER YELLOW DAHLIA, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE ABOVE
ANOTHER SIGN OF AUTUMN SOON TO COME, KIRENGOSHOMA PALMATA, A JAPANESE PLANT WHO WILL GET YELLOW BELL FORMED FLOWERS
THE BUDS OF A PINK SEDUM SPECTABILE, A SUCCULENT WHO ATTRACTS MANY BEES AND BUTTERFLIES WHEN IT’S IN FULL BLOOM
I HAVE LOADS OF FIGS THIS YEAR, THESE FIGS WILL NOT COLOUR PURPLE WHEN RIPE, THESE WILL GET A LITTLE MORE YELLOW AND WHEN THEY ARE SOFT YOU KNOW THEY ARE RIPE, THEY ARE CALLED “WHITE OF MARSEILLE”
THESE TAGETES WITH THE TINY YELLOW FLOWERS RESIST DROUGHT BETTER THAN THE ONES WITH THE BIGGER FLOWERS
MY FIRST AUTUMN ANEMONE THIS YEAR
HOW ABOUT THE BLOOMS IN YOUR GARDENS , ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THIS YEARS SUMMER , I AM !!!!
THANKS FOR VISITING !! IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED !
